CytologicalDiagnosis
We work with special stains to improve visibility of the individual cell types on the cytological smear. To make a diagnosis, several hundred cells in the sample are counted manually and the percentage of the cell types is determined. For a complete assessment, we also pay attention to cell morphology and foreign particles.
- Increased number of foamy macrophages
- Detection of hemosiderophages as an indication of EIPH
- Identification of Curschmann spirals
- Assessment regarding excessive spore inhalation
- Presence of fungal hyphae
- Silicates
- Pneumocystis carinii
- and other foreign particles

Therapy consultation
Based on the cytological findings and your preliminary report, we will advise you in detail.
You will receive a recommendation regarding therapy and long-term management of your patient in addition to the diagnosis.
You will receive a phone call to discuss diagnostic and therapeutic problems after you have sent in your findings and complete anamnesis.

The correct use of the various diagnostic aids is decisive for your diagnosis. We would like to pass on our knowledge to you, pointing out small anamnestic clues, aiding with correct interpretation of clincial and endoscopic findings, but also thoracic ultrasonography and radiography as well as cytology.
We therefore regularly organize further training in the form of seminars, lectures and practical exercises.
